Spring Indoor Sessions come to an end PDF Print E-mail

Our Spring Indoor sessions have now come to an end but the fun doesn’t stop there! Next weekend, Saturday 17th, we will be hosting an action packed, fun-filled day with lots of games and skills competitions at Ajax Wanderers Rugby Club.

The following weekend Saturday 24th May is a truly unique event where the President of the Gaelic Athletic Association in Ireland will be present. There will be youth teams from Ottawa, Toronto, Brampton and of course Durham participating.  The President has heard lots of great reports about the kids in Durham and is looking forward to seeing them in action!

Thank you again for the overwhelming response and interest in our Gaelic Football for Kids sessions. We hope you have enjoyed the Indoor and are looking forward to the Outdoor Program which begins June 14th!

Football for Kids Tournaments PDF Print E-mail

Well done to all that participated in our George Curry Tournament and the Toronto GAA tournament at Centennial Park. It was amazing to see so many kids playing our game and enjoying it! On Saturday last we played our first game as 'Durham Shamrocks' in our new playing kit, every one of the kids played magnificently, it was great to watch!

We hope to organise more games during the summer and then into the fall against other teams including Brampton, Toronto and Ottawa. We will keep you posted! It was a great treat for kids and parents to meet the President of the GAA from Ireland and he was very impressed with the setup and all the kids out enjoying the sport.

Also coming soon are the Continental Youth Championships on July 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th in Philadelphia. We hope to have a 'Durham Shamrocks' team available to travel to this tournament to represent the GAA in Canada. Teams from cities all over the United States will be competing for the coveted Continental Youth Cups. Kids of all ages are welcome to participate.

The CYC will kick off with a parade which marches through the center of town at 1pm on Thursday 24th with the games then being played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We will launch some fundraising initiatives so we can bring the cost to a minumium for all parents and players travelling.

Please indicate your interest to the coaches or administration team and we will be giving you more details on travel arrangements etc soon.
