GAA Ladies All-Stars coming to Toronto!

  • PDF

GAA Ladies All Stars The GAA Ladies All-Stars will be travelling to Toronto this year from Ireland. They travel to a different location every two years and we are certainly priviledged that they have chosen Toronto for their 2012 trip.

The travelling party will be in Toronto for one week in May enjoying the sites of Toronto, local hospitality and meeting with the numerous Irish organizations in our city. The highlight of course will be the All Star football game which features the 2010 All Stars playing against the 2011 All Stars. This game will be preceded by a game featuring two teams of select players representing the Toronto GAA.

The festivities will get underway on Saturday, May 26th at 1:00pm when the Toronto Select game will take place, followed at 3:00pm when the travelling All Stars take to the pitch.

In addition to the 40 players from Ireland, the travelling party also includes the Ladies GAA management, including CEO Helen O'Rourke and President, Pat Quilll, team management , referees, coaches and tutors. Also in attendance will be Pol O Gallchoir, Director General of TG4, Ronan O Coisdealbha, Head of Sport for TG4, Brendan Moran, Sportsfile photographer and freelance journalist Jackie Cahill. Additionally Marty Morrissey from RTE will be here and will be doing the commentary on the All Star game itself.

Following the festivities at Centennial Park, a celebration banquet for the teams will be held at the St. Lawrence Market Hall in downtown Toronto. Tickets will be $40 per person which includes a buffet meal, presentations and great entertainment. The function will get underway at 7:00pm. To book tickets, please contact Angela O'Muiri at 905-277-4727.

We hope to see you at Centennial Park on May 26th . This is certainly an honour for the GAA in Canada and Toronto to be the hosts and we want to ensure a very successful and memorable trip.
